trolling through my favorite websites, i found a couple of thought-provoking questions:
do you remember what you were doing on 9/11/2001?
i'm a few days late for this. yes. i was watching cnn. i saw almost everything almost instantaneously. i didn't see the first airplane hit the north tower of the world trade center, but i was there for the rest. i was giving my blockmates a running commentary on the events as they progressed. it then hit me, we'll never know when our time will be up. i suddenly felt the need to do everything on my life list. i was only able to accomplish one within the week. a few months after that, i felt bad about achieving that particular item.
what was your first cellphone?
20 years of gsm technology (!). my first cellphone was a brick. a nokia that didn't contain a sim card. i carried this around in 1996. on my senior year in high school, in 1997, my parents got me my own gsm plan and it came with a nokia 1610. it wasn't much of an improvement from my first phone, but it housed a sim card. it weighed around a pound and was still the size of a brick. it also had sms capability, but no one knew what sms was back then. pagers were our favorite gadget then. i never had one of the small colorful models. mine was vintage. instead of the 7-digit pager number with the personalized operator greeting, i had a 6-digit number from the provider with cranky operators. buti na lang they soon became obsolete, no matter how small and colorful most of the pagers were.
